Scientists Developed an Enzyme which can Breakdown Plastic in Mere Hours by  Suzanna Hayek  |  May 2, 2022 Scientists at the University of Texas at Austin ( UT Austin ) have developed an enzyme that could break down plastic, which takes centuries to decompose, in a matter of hours.  The research is based on a commonly used polymer found in consumer packaging (PET plastic), such as containers, bottles, fruit and vegetable packaging. It is also found in some fibres and textiles and makes up 12% of waste worldwide.  Potentially the enzyme could be a game-changer, enabling large-scale recycling which could help major industries recover and reuse plastics at the molecular level to reduce their environmental impact.  “The possibilities are endless across industries to leverage this leading-edge recycling process,”  said  Hal Alper, professor in the McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering at UT Austin. “Beyond the obvious waste management industry, this also provides corporations from ever

DIPLOMATS STRIVING FOR CHANGE

Image
Striving for Change Diplomats have a deep belief in the ideals of humanism – altruism, compassion, and understanding. These personality types believe it is possible to create a kinder world, and they strive to do so every day. The  Intuitive  trait fuels this optimism. Paradoxically, though, it also makes these types hyper-sensitive to wrongdoing. This sensitivity provides Diplomat personalities with the motivation they need to tackle injustice, which is important. If left unchecked, however, this personality trait can trigger self-righteousness or single-mindedness. 97% of Diplomats say they often drift into daydreaming or fantasizing about different ideas or scenario. In general, Diplomats are motivated by principles rather than practicality. This helps them to stay true to their big dreams and ideas. That said, these types may have trouble enacting plans that are pragmatic rather than passion-driven. Diplomats can be tempted to ignore day-to-day tasks in favor of their big dreams
